Linda Suurbeta Bonye and Rita Boakyewaa Konadu are newly received candidates from Ghana. They have been with the Sisters of the Holy Cross in the Ghana discerners program for almost a year. They were received into the candidacy program on November 15, 2018, at the Takoradi community.
Linda is 24 years old from the Upper West Region in the Lawra District. Her parish is St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lawra. She is the third born of her parents among seven children. She graduated from the National Nursery Teacher Training Center in Accra, Kanda, and holds a certificate in Early Childhood. She was employed as a pre-school teacher and a housemistress at Our Lady of Holy Cross School. She loved her work because it made her develop as a person.
Rita is from Kumasi in the Ashanti Region but she lives at Dankwakrom in upper Denkyera West. She is 23 years of age and her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Konadu. She is the last born among seven children. She graduated from the National Nursery Teacher Training Center in Accra, Kanda, and holds a certificate in Early Childhood. She taught in a nursery class, and through that, she was able to develop her passion for teaching.
The two candidates said they enjoyed their live-in experience with the sisters and learned a lot about themselves and the sisters. They brought great joy to the community.
At the candidacy reception, the two candidates prayerfully proclaimed, “Spirit of Guidance … I entrust my decision-making into your hands, ready to do my part but also knowing that I cannot do this without your help. Lead me through all the unsure, unclear, doubtful, hesitant and questioning moments that are mine as I search to find the right way in which to go.”
Sister Esther Adjoa Entsiwah, CSC, Area of Africa coordinator, responded, “Today we are happy to welcome Linda Suurbeta Bonye and Rita Konadu Boakyewaa into the Candidate Program of the Sisters of the Holy Cross. We offer you our prayerful support and encouragement.”
Those gathered then prayed a blessing for God’s presence, strength and guidance for Linda and Rita on this phase of their journey in Holy Cross.
