Celebrating 25 years of consecrated life as a Sister of the Holy Cross

Sister Shiuli Gomes, CSC, who currently serves as an administrator and teacher at Holy Cross School, Lokhipur, Sylhet, Bangladesh, will be honored on July 15, 2018, during a jubilee celebration in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at Saint Mary’s, Notre Dame, Indiana, for her 25 years of consecrated life as a Sister of the Holy Cross.
Early in her mission work, Sister Shiuli served in parish ministry with Immaculate Conception Church in Lokhipur, Kulaura, Moulvibazar District, Bangladesh, where she also taught at the Nirmola Education Centre. She shared her gifts in other parish ministry roles with Catholic Church, Sonapur, Noakhali, Chittagong, Bangladesh, and with Holy Rosary Church, Tejgaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh, where she served for eight years.
During that time, she also taught at Holy Cross Girls’ High School, Tejgaon, Dhaka. Sister Shiuli continued her parish ministry work with St. Anthony of Padua Church, Bakshanagar, Dhaka, and Christ the Savior Church, Boldipukur, Mithapukur, Rangpur, Bangladesh.
In Rangpur, Sister Shiuli opened St. Cecilia School, where from 2010 to 2017 she taught and served as headmistress. In 2018 she opened Holy Cross School, where she is currently serving.
Sister Shiuli was born in Kamalapur, Dhaka, Bangladesh. She pursued studies at Jnanodaya Dharmaram College, Bangalore, Karnataka, India, and completed leadership training at the motherhouse at Saint Mary’s, Notre Dame, Indiana.
Sister Shiuli made her initial profession of vows on December 10, 1993, and her perpetual profession on September 3, 1999.
