Sister Semita Nokrek, CSC

Sister Semita Nokrek, CSC, who currently serves as councilor for the Area of Asia and as a teacher at Corpus Christi High School in Jalchatra, Madhupur, Tangail, Bangladesh, will be honored on July 16, 2017, during a jubilee celebration in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at Saint Mary’s, Notre Dame, Indiana, for her 25 years of consecrated life as a Sister of the Holy Cross.

Sister Semita served in parish ministry for 14 years, beginning at Corpus Christi parish in Jalchatra. She later ministered at Blessed Brother Andre parish in Agartala, Tripura, India, where she organized women’s programs and supervised orphaned boys from the area.

Sister Semita was born in Gaira Village, Madhupur, Tangail. She studied at Jnanodaya Dharmaram College in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. She pursued further educational work with the Sisters of the Holy Cross in Shillong, Meghalaya, India, and completed leadership development training at Saint Mary’s. Sister Semita made her initial profession of vows on December 4, 1992, and her perpetual profession on September 26, 1998.
