Sister Mitali Mree celebrates here 2020 Jubilee

Sister Mitali Mree, CSC, celebrated by her community in Barakathal, India

On July 17, 2021, we experienced a Zoom celebration for Sister Mitali Mree, CSC, celebrating her silver jubilee in Our Lady of Holy Cross convent in Barakathal, India, with sisters of the local community.

It was one of the unique ways to celebrate a jubilee with Sister Mitali for her religious life in the Congregation. Her journey has been quite long, 25 years plus, and half of it was service in India, giving her whole heart and soul to the people in Barakathal. Sister Mitali works hard in giving her effort and ministry in the community. She also learned the local language, Kokborok, very easily, and she is happily surrounded by local people who love her very much.

It’s a blessing for the community to have her; she gives the very best for the common good. My experience of living with Sister Mitali reminds me of St. Francis of Assisi, who loved animals and creatures. Sister Mitali does the same with animals, caring to her core! It’s amazing. She also loves cultivating vegetables in the garden and we, the local community, are happy and enjoying the fruit from our garden.

Her love and care to the community is immeasurable, giving her time and importance to the community at any cost. Some of us have experienced that she is such an example, through her smile or laughter. The words we give in thanksgiving are, “As you continue to serve God’s mission in the Congregation, Sister, and especially in India, may God bless you abundantly and also your family.”
