Sister Mary Renu Samaddar, CSC

Sister Mary Renu Samaddar, CSC, who currently serves at the Congregation’s formation house and in pastoral ministry in Deepaneeta, Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh, will  be honored on July 21, 2019, during a jubilee celebration in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at Saint Mary’s, Notre Dame, Ind., for her 25 years of consecrated life as a Sister of the Holy Cross.

Sister Mary Renu shared her gifts as an educator for 12 years in Bangladesh. She taught elementary education at Nirmola Education Center, Kulaura, Moulvibazar District, and then served at Holy Cross Girls’ High School, Tejgaon, Dhaka; Brother Andre High School, Sonapur, Noakhali; and at Corpus Christi High School, Jalchatra, Tangail, where she was a teacher and headmistress. For three years, Sister Mary Renu served in pastoral ministry and as assistant director of aspirants in Kulaura and in Savar, Dhaka. She provided catechetical training and family ministry with National Social Catechetical Training Center, Jessore, Khulna, Bangladesh, before entering her current ministry in April 2019.

Sister Mary Renu was born in Natullabad, Barisal, Bangladesh. Before entering the Congregation, she worked as a hostel assistant. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Government Brojomohun College, Barisal, where she also earned her Master of Arts in Bangla literature. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Saint Mary’s College, Shillong, India. Sister Mary Renu made her initial profession of vows on December 2, 1994, and her perpetual profession on October 11, 2002.
