75 years of consecrated life

Sister M. Marcelle (Frizzie), CSC, who currently serves in the ministry of prayer, will be honored on July 16, 2017, during a jubilee celebration in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at Saint Mary’s, Notre Dame, Ind., for her 75 years of consecrated life as a Sister of the Holy Cross.
Sister Marcelle served 42 years in elementary education, teaching in Arizona, Utah, Idaho, and primarily in California, where she spent 32 years in ministry in several communities. For seven years Sister Marcelle shared her gifts at St. Cyril School in Tucson, Ariz., and she later taught for 10 years at St. Matthew Catholic School in San Mateo, Calif. She also served in parish ministry as a lector and a eucharistic minister for 24 years in St. Matthew Catholic Church, San Mateo.
Sister Marcelle was born in Sylacauga, Alabama. Before entering the Congregation, she worked in the lumbering business. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Holy Names in Oakland, Calif. Sister Marcelle made her initial profession of vows on February 2, 1942, and her perpetual profession on August 15, 1945.
