50 years of consecrated life

Sister Elsbeth Mulvaney, CSC, who currently serves as mission educator for Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho, will be honored on July 16, 2017, during a jubilee celebration in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at Saint Mary’s, Notre Dame, Ind., for her 50 years of consecrated life as a Sister of the Holy Cross.
Sister Elsbeth shared her gifts in many areas in the field of education. She worked as a high school teacher, and as a consultant, and taught religious and adult education, serving in Idaho, California, Indiana and Colorado. She taught at Bishop Kelly High School in Boise, Idaho, for three years and later served six years as a consultant for the Diocese of Boise’s Catholic Education Office. For the Congregation, Sister Elsbeth served on the council of the Western Region and assisted in the Sisters of the Holy Cross formation house in Denver, Colo. There, she concurrently worked as a religious education consultant for the Archdiocese of Denver. Sister Elsbeth later served for six years as an administrator and spiritual director at the Sisters of the Holy Cross Mater Ecclesiae Center, Tiberias, Israel. She has been in ministry in her present role with Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center for 18 years.
Sister Elsbeth was born in Casper, Wyo. She graduated from Saint Mary College, Leavenworth, Kan., with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and earned her master’s degree in education from Boston College, Boston, Mass. Sister Elsbeth made her initial profession of vows on August 15, 1967, and her perpetual profession on August 15, 1972.
