25 years of consecrated life
Sister Elizabeth Tusiime, CSC, who currently serves as a clinical instructor at Virika School of Nursing in Fort Portal, Uganda, will be honored on July 16, 2017, during a jubilee celebration in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at Saint Mary’s, Notre Dame, Ind., for her 25 years of consecrated life as a Sister of the Holy Cross.
Sister Elizabeth worked as a registered nurse for five years, serving at Holy Cross Busaru Clinic, Bundibugyo, Uganda, and Holy Cross Clinic at Kyembogo, Fort Portal. She also served four years as vocation animator for the Congregation in Fort Portal. Sister Elizabeth later shared her gifts as director of the Holy Cross Family Centre, in Fort Portal, and concurrently served as a member of the Fort Portal Diocese Health Board.
Sister Elizabeth was born in Nyakasura, Uganda. Before she joined the Congregation, she worked as a staff nurse in the children’s ward at Virika Hospital, Fort Portal. She studied at Virika School of Nursing, Fort Portal and Rubaga School of Nursing, Kampala, Uganda. She pursued further studies at Makerere University, Kampala. She also received leadership development training at Saint Mary’s, Notre Dame, Indiana. Sister Elizabeth made her initial profession of vows on September 15, 1992, and her perpetual profession on August 22, 1998.
