

Sister Celine Dounies, CSC
Sister Celine Dounies, CSC, who currently serves as a teacher at Saint John the Baptist Elementary School in Draper, Utah, will be honored on July 21, 2019, during a jubilee celebration in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at Saint Mary’s, Notre Dame, Ind., for her 50 years of consecrated life as a Sister of the Holy Cross.
For 44 years Sister Celine has served in the ministry of elementary education. In the Diocese of Salt Lake City, Utah, she taught a cumulative 34 years at Bishop Glass School and Our Lady of Lourdes School in Salt Lake City; Blessed Sacrament School, Sandy; and Saint John the Baptist Elementary School, Draper. Sister Celine also shared her gifts as a teacher at St. Joseph’s School, Boise, Idaho; Holy Rosary School, Idaho Falls; and at schools in Tucson, Ariz., and Lynwood, Calif. For three years she served in liturgy and volunteer service with the Sisters of the Holy Cross in Tiberias, Israel. She has served in her current ministry since 1999.
Sister Celine was born in Bakersfield, Calif. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arizona, Tucson. Sister Celine made her initial profession of vows on August 15, 1969, and her perpetual profession on July 28, 1974.
