KPCW’s radio program The Mountain Life featured Holy Cross Ministries CEO Emmie Gardner highlighting the work of the group and their history as a ministry of the Sisters of the Holy Cross.

The sisters’ service to the people of Utah began in 1875 in healthcare, establishing a hospital for injured miners and railroad workers. As needs changed, the sisters moved away from acute care and continued their work helping the underserved by creating Holy Cross Ministries. Today, the organization addresses the needs of the disadvantaged in early childhood education, legal assistance for immigrants, and connecting people with community health networks.

During the broadcast, Emmie Gardner discusses how Sister Mary Ann Pajakowski created an education program model in the 1990s that is still being used today. She also spoke about her work as a Holy Cross Associate in refugee resettlement and how her training, educational background and professional experience brought her to Holy Cross Ministries.
