The world needs prayer
Our Catholic faith compels us to care for the most vulnerable. And one way we can ALL participate is through prayer. So many in our communities, near and far, are hurting. Families are torn apart in search of a life free from violence, poverty and oppression. Neighbors are struggling to put food on their tables. Our Earth continues to show signs of global warming, while many do nothing to address the issue.
And in the U.S., we’re now seeing more acts of cruelty directed at immigrants already bearing the burdens of poverty and injustice. Congregation President Sister Sharlet Ann Wagner, CSC, shares, “Sixty-two percent of American adults describe themselves as Christian, and yet these unjust actions reflect a betrayal of the fundamental teachings of Christ.”
These are all people and concerns we collectively can carry in our hearts as we add them to our prayers. And the more mindful we all are of these issues, the more we can help prepare the world for a better time than our own.
Putting our billboards in your hands
If you followed our Congregation’s 2025 billboard campaign, these new prayer cards might look familiar. They each replicate those messages, encouraging compassion for people who are suffering and marginalized. While the billboards were temporary, these cards are a tangible reminder of important Gospel values.
Much of the messaging is drawn from Matthew 25:35–36, where Jesus reveals that faith is lived through acts of caring. We hope the prayer cards encourage people to pause and reflect on Jesus’ calls and how to embody them. Hearing these words ourselves, the billboards followed our Congregation’s Response to Executive Actions. The statement calls on all government leaders and people of goodwill to work together to build a more just and compassionate world.
Help us spread these messages
The free prayer cards, which are intended to be shared, are one more step toward the goal of improving our world. Jesus urged all those who follow him to walk in his ways. In unifying people around prayer, we hope this prayer card ministry will help each of us fulfill that mission.
