On January 20, 2022, the feast of Blessed Basil Anthony Moreau, 12 women were received into the Congregation’s International Novitiate. They are: Sisters Maryna Kharsohphoh (India), Janty Mary Lyngdoh Nonglait (India), Rose Kabanyoro (Uganda), Freda Ayine Anontee (Ghana), Naomi Assuah (Ghana), Juliana Santos Sousa (Brazil), Bornaly Induar (Bangladesh), Sathi Costa (Bangladesh), Ratna Das (Bangladesh), Mackline Biira (Uganda), Rupana Debbarma (India), and Diangsbun Marwein (India).

Three of the novices—Freda Ayine Anontee, Naomi Assuah and Juliana Santos Sousa—were received at Saint Mary’s International Novitiate, Notre Dame, Indiana, by Sister M. Veronique (Wiedower), CSC, president. The other nine were received in their home countries but will be coming to Saint Mary’s when travel allows. In the meantime, Sister Evelyn Ntiamoah, CSC, director of the International Novitiate, will work with her team and mentors to shepherd all novices through their journeys.

The novitiate prepares the novice for her commitment as a religious and to initiate her into the essential requirements of religious life: understanding of the vows, spiritual development, community life and apostolic service.
We celebrate with these sisters and hold them in prayer as they continue this next phase of life in Holy Cross!
