Tour the Church of Our Lady of Loretto
According
to Built of Living Stones: Art, Architecture and Worship, the
guidelines from the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, “The design
of the church should reflect the unity of the entire assembly and at the
same time ensure that each person is able to exercise his or her ministry
in a space that fully accommodates the ritual action called for by that
ministry.”
Throughout the history of the Sisters of the Holy Cross,
there has been a strong emphasis on liturgy. This communal event is
reflected in the interior design of the Church of Our Lady of Loretto. The sisters
have worked
to unfold that vision of the centrality of the Eucharist, going so far as
to renovate the linear space into a worship space that conforms to the church
documents published after the Second Vatican Council.
The following tour reflects the vision and life of
the Sisters of the Holy Cross and those who join them in worship.
