Colégio Santa Maria
São Paulo, Brazil
          The Colégio Santa Maria is the sisters’ long-standing, sponsored educational ministry in Brazil with an enrollment of 2,900 students. The coeducational school is one of the highest rated in São Paulo and is active in the community, incorporating social justice into all its activities. The school also provides an evening program for adults who have not received a primary or secondary education. Sister Diane Cundiff and Sister Anne Veronica Horner Hoe are the school’s principals.

Saint Martha’s Social Service Center
São Paulo, Brazil
          The center provides programs for women to learn skills that allow them to support their families. Traditional programs, such as sewing, continue, but newer programs like computer operations also are offered. Sister June Ann Kirby is part of the team at the center, offering a sister presence to staff and clients.

          Sister Aline Marie Steuer received funding for Cebi-BA, a grassroots biblical movement that helps Base Christian communities to read and apply Scripture to their lives and social situations.

Center for the Guidance and Education of Youth: Projeto Sol
São Paulo, Brazil
          Sister Angela Mary Carey received funding for six teacher salaries at a center where impoverished youth are educated to the values of nonviolence, dignity and social responsibility.

Father Aldo Center CESPAT
São Paulo, Brazil
          Sister Anne Veronica Horner Hoe received funding to purchase material for 23 vocational and citizenship courses that will enable youth to get jobs.

Education of four women
São Paulo, Brazil
          Sister Elizangela Matos dos Santos received funding for vocational courses for four women who are in the condition of prostitution. She also received funding for transportation costs for volunteers and workshop expenses.

Instituto Terra, Trabalho e Cidadânia
São Paulo, Brazil
          Sister Maria Regina Gomes received funding to provide stipends for interns who work in a program for foreign prisoners, especially women. Read more.

          Sister Michael Mary Nolan received funding for tuition for a female descendent of slaves who is in her fourth year of law school.

EAACONE: Working with Descendents of Slaves
São Paulo, Brazil
          Sister Michael Mary Nolan received funding for salaries for community organizers in relation to land, education and health needs of 63 communities of descendants of slaves, as well as economic solidarity projects.
