Colégio Santa Maria
São Paulo, Brazil
          The Colégio Santa Maria is an educational ministry in Brazil with an enrollment of 2,900 students. The coeducational school is one of the highest rated in São Paulo and is active in the community, incorporating social justice into all its activities. The school also provides an evening program for adults who have not received a primary or secondary education. Sister Diane Cundiff is the school’s general director. Saint Martha’s Social Service Center
São Paulo, Brazil
          The center provides programs for women to learn skills that allow them to support their families. Traditional programs, such as sewing, continue, but newer programs like computer operations also are offered. Fernanda Ceppas is the director of the center.

          Sister Aline Marie Steuer received funding for Cebi-BA, a grassroots biblical movement that helps Base Christian communities to read and apply Scripture to their lives and social situations. Funds will be used for training, transportation, meetings and materials.

Women and Children Discovering their Abilities (WCDH)
Salvador, Bahia, Brazil
          Sister Elita Esméria de Oliveira received funds to provide partial funding for a project focused on working with women from poor neighborhoods who live at risk of domestic violence, drugs and gangs in which their sons and husbands participate.

Center for the Guidance and Education of Youth: Projeto Sol
São Paulo, Brazil
          Sister Angela Mary Carey received funding to purchase supplies for art and religion classes at a center that daily serves 200 children from the slums.

Father Aldo Center CESPAT
São Paulo, Brazil
          Sister Anne Veronica Horner Hoe received funding to purchase materials and workbooks for vocational courses to develop job skills in young women and men who are out of work or who have never worked.

Associação Mulher Vida
São Paulo, Brazil
          Sister Elizangela Matos dos Santos received funding for professional courses for four women who are seeking to leave the life of prostitution; transportation costs for volunteers; and workshops and celebrations.

Centro de Apoio ao Migrante - CAMI/SPM
São Paulo, Brazil
          Sister Isabel Cristina Camacho Torres received funding for legal services and classes for immigrants in a program that promotes the human dignity of immigrants through computer and Portuguese lessons and social inclusion of young people in São Paulo. Read more-->

          Sister Maria Regina Gomes received funding for salary and transportation for a part-time social worker working on repatriating the children of pregnant foreign prisoners or accompanying them in institutions until their mothers are released. Read more-->

          Sister Michael Mary Nolan received funding for salaries of community organizers in relation to land, education and health needs of the communities and economic solidarity projects, as they work in formation and orientation of leaders.
