Congregational Archives, Origins and History

The Archives and Records Department is the official repository for materials about the origin, history, spirit and the growth of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross and its ministries since 1843. Special collections include the services of the sisters in the Civil War, Spanish-American War, as well as papers delivered at the Holy Cross History Association Conference.

It contains records of current, deceased, and former members of the Congregation, as well as records of students from closed educational institutions sponsored by the Congregation. Transcripts are available upon written request signed by the individual concerned.

Museum

The museum of the Congregation contains artifacts, photographs and samples of significant documents relevant to each General Administration. It is open during regular Archives hours.

Research

Telephone and mail requests for limited research are accepted. On-site researchers are accommodated only by prior arrangement through the director of Archives. Most records are open for research, however some administrative records are restricted. Credit must be given for materials used in publications. A fee may be charged for extensive research.
