Who are the Sisters of the Holy Cross?
We are a Roman Catholic congregation of women religious, part of the international family of Holy Cross sisters, brothers and priests, who live out Jesus’ gospel and mission by ministering in many different ways to people around the globe.
How many members are in your congregation?
Approximately 400 Holy Cross sisters minister in eight countries on four continents (Ghana, Uganda, Bangladesh, India, Mexico, United States, Brazil and Peru).
In what ways do you minister?
Sisters address unmet needs in many different cultures and settings. We minister in large hospitals and small outreach clinics; in elementary and secondary schools and universities; in churches and parishes; and in the streets of the inner city and remote rural areas of the world.
Do you accept credit card donations?
Yes. We now take credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and Diner's Club.
Can you take donations over the Internet?
Yes, we can. The donations made on our Web site go through a secure server that is hosted by the trusted company, Blackbaud, maker of the database software we use. You might want to take advantage of the opportunity to set up an account, complete with a password, so that it will automatically fill in your name and address each time you wish to make a donation. How can I participate in the mission of the Sisters of the Holy Cross?
You may feel a special sense of kinship with the Sisters of the Holy Cross. If so, we invite you to co-minister with us by praying regularly for that ministry or that sister to whom you feel drawn. Further ways to co-minister include supporting the Ministry With the Poor fund, either with a financial donation or by sending canceled stamps to our Stamp Room. You can become a Holy Cross Associate and participate in the spirit and service ministry of the sisters. Or you could play an important role in the lives of our sisters by volunteering on the campus of Saint Mary’s, Notre Dame, Indiana.
Do you allow other organizations or companies to use your mailing list?
Absolutely not. It is a long-held policy that the Sisters of the Holy Cross will not sell, rent or trade its mailing list to anyone. The only exception is to accommodate requests for updated mailing addresses from the alumni association that originally provided the list to us.
