Celebration without exploitationSisters of the Holy Cross held a Human Trafficking Awareness Day prayer service, which included the story of St. Josephine Bakhita, in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Notre Dame, Indiana, on January 11 as part of a Super Bowl 2012 Anti-Trafficking Initiative. Incidents of human trafficking, or modern-day slavery, tend to spike alongside major sporting events like the Super Bowl to meet the high demand for commercial sex.
